Henderson Collegiate

Cooper Tacia delivered a 35,000-SF multi-purpose facility for Henderson Collegiate, a public charter school in rural North Carolina that supports low-income students. Their mission is to encourage students to value learning and experiences – and ultimately attend and graduate from their college of choice.

The completed facility includes an 873-seat, multi-sport gymnasium with a stage; a 1,692-SF dance and drama studio; a 2,151-SF band room; a 983-SF strength and cardio training facility; team locker rooms; ADA-compliant restrooms; and fully equipped AV and theatrical production spaces. Additional program elements include multi-purpose classrooms, faculty offices, a concession area, and a large entry lobby with integrated storage and support spaces.

Site work included utility infrastructure, a 2.5-acre outdoor playground and paved gathering spaces, completed with careful coordination to minimize disruptions to students and staff.

Their mission inspired us to partner with them through the Cooper Charitable Foundation, which provides housing stability grants to those in need. We continue to support families, ensuring they have secure housing.
