Project Details
Cooper Tacia was contracted to take part in the construction of Enviva Biomass’ new ground-up production facility in Hamlet, North Carolina. Our scope consisted of multiple phases. The first was the design and construction of a 7,000 sf administration building, a 5,000 sf maintenance building, and a 10,000 sf warehouse building. The second was working in conjunction with Kiewit Construction to construct a 30,000 sf Biofuel Plant. Phase three consisted of underground natural gas piping and all sanitary sewer piping for the new facility. Phase four consisted of the construction of a temporary natural gas skid and a permanent natural gas skid that will be used to power the new facility until such time as the local gas utility company is able to bring piping into the area.
The Hamlet location was the fourth new facility for which Cooper Tacia designed the administration building and maintenance building and the second at which we constructed the Biofuel Plant. Every facility changes based on the growing needs of the company and end-user feedback from previous facilities. Along with interacting with Enviva upper management to design the new buildings, we also visited previous sites to see first hand how the buildings were being used and to request feedback from local employees.
